GiveSignup and Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a free web-tracking tool, which allows owners of websites to gather information about their visitors. Google Analytics is able to provide a whole host of information about a website’s traffic, everything from the number of page views and conversions, to the breakdown of mobile versus desktop traffic and where those visitors came from. This information is very valuable to nonprofits, allowing them to understand the demographics of their event, find opportunities for growth, and to track the effectiveness of different digital marketing campaigns. GiveSignup provides a way to link your Google Analytics code to your event in order to take advantage of its capabilities.

Set Up Google Analytics for Your Ticket Event

On your Event Dashboard, in Promotion>>Google Analytics, you will see an example Google Analytics tracking code.

Note the bolded text: this is the placeholder tracking ID. Sign into your Google Analytics account. Make sure you have added your event as a property (if you haven't, you must do that first). Near the top of your Google Analytics dashboard, you will see a Tracking ID beginning with UA.

Copy this Tracking ID and go back to your Event Dashboard. Under Google Analytics Account ID, paste the Tracking ID.

Under Additional Reporting Options, check the box if you want to send transactions to Google Analytics when tickets are purchased (most events do).
